Attack Methodologies for Overlooked Security Mistakes
With the continued attacks on our cyber space the future looks a bit bleak; however most of the vulnerabilities exploited today are due to common mistakes that weaken our security posture. From patching overlooked applications to securing Windows passwords, Mr. Dow will discuss mitigation techniques as well as a look into the methodologies used by attackers to exploit these vulnerabilities such as local exploits via spear-phishing and SNMP enumeration.
Mr. Dow will also write a service exploit that will bypass password authentication, driving home the point you can’t always believe everything vulnerability scanning tools such as Nessus tell you.
There will be a discussion following the presentation.
Tony Dow is a Security and Systems Architect with over 15 years of experience hacking on electronic gadgets and software. He is an active member of the local HICapacity makerspace and regular speaker at corporate training events. Previously, Tony was an Avionics Technician with the US Air Force specializing in offensive and defensive electronic systems in fighter jets.
